New Sub Shop Brings East Coast Style Subs to Roanoke

Geonetti’s Specialty Subs has officially opened on the Roanoke City Market with their ribbon-cutting ceremony to be held on Thursday, January 8 at 5 p.m.

Located at 112 Campbell Avenue, S.E., the former Mill Mountain Coffee Shop is thriving.  With the choice of 27 different sandwich varieties, Geonetti’s also offers a great selection of salads, soups and hearty home-made chili.  And for dessert lovers, there is the greatest Devonshire cheesecake in the Roanoke Valley.

Owners Tim Rowland and Rhonda Thomas are thrilled to bring a new sandwich to the Roanoke Valley.  “Our Italian and whole-wheat bread is shipped from an Italian bakery in the Shadyside area of Pittsburgh,” states Tim Rowland.  “Our authentic cheese steaks are choice rib-eye steak and all of our meats are high in quality and in quantity.”  Rowland will carry out the day to day operations of Geonetti’s Specialty Subs which also features wireless service to customers.

Thomas, a Roanoke native and local real estate broker, is pleased to be the driving force behind this exciting new business in her hometown.  “As a child, my parents were business owners in Roanoke and I feel privileged to follow in their footsteps,” says Thomas.  “New businesses in the Roanoke Valley are important for continued economic growth and are beneficial for the residents and visitors to the City of Roanoke.”

Geonetti’s offers 8-inch, 12-inch, and 16-inch oven-baked subs at very affordable prices.  Daily lunch specials are offered from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

for $5.99 which includes any 6” sub with the customer’s choice of soup or salad and small drink.   And for families with small children, a “tots table” menu is offered for just $3.99.  This includes a 4” sub, small bag of chips and a fruit cup.

Geonetti’s concept is based on Tim Rowland’s family business that his father started in 1976.  The family owns 5 stores in the Springfield, Ohio area with accolades for having the best subs in the Ohio Valley for many years.  The downtown Roanoke location is the first in the Virginia market and the owners plan to expand their southwestern Virginia presence in the near future.

Dandelion Feet for those Holiday Stocking Stuffers!

Dand feet small for blog

I was in Dandelion Feet in downtown Roanoke yesterday doing a bit of lunchtime shopping.  What a great selection of goodies for holiday gifts AND stocking stuffers!  Located at 308 Market Street, S.E., this boutique of ladies shoes and accessories has unique offerings to give to the gals on your shopping list.  So, if you're looking for a special gift, Dandelion Feet is a stop you must make.  Hobo_Logo[1]

One of my favorite offerings of this very metropolitan-like retail shop is the vast selection of HOBO handbags.  Here you can purchase the popular clutches that are perfect for any gal.  Especially those too busy to be changing out purses everyday!  The best thing about these clutches is the array of colors to choose from, and the beauty of getting all you need (lipstick, cash, credit card and cellphone) into one great little bag!  They go with anything from casual to cocktail and it's all a girl needs!!  Dana_Mulberry-182x121[1]

So, if your stuggling for gift ideas, make Dandelion Feet the next stop on your holiday shopping trip.  Kelly Fleming, owner, or any of her associates are happy to brainstorm with you on the right gift for that special someone!  And just in case you didn't know, Dandelion Feet was voted Downtown Roanoke's Best Store, AND Roanoke's Best Shoe Store for 2008 by CITY Magazine.     Best_Downtown_Store2-190x250[1]

SpaVA, the Roanoke Valley's premier day spa, will more than double in size with the expansion to the City of Roanoke and opening of a second location offering the region's most comprehensive array of spa, health and wellness services under one roof.

With soothing shades of green, yellow and tan, plus bamboo wood floors, arching hallways and aromatic scents, the new location at 2601 Franklin Road is home to four businesses:  SpaVa Day Spa, featuring spa services and a new hair salon; SpaFit fitness center; Rejuva skin care; and the Center for Bariatric Medicine, providing medical and nutritional solutions for obesity and chronic overweight conditions.  SpaVa's original location will continue to provide spa and fitness center services in Salem.

1-800-GOT-JUNK Opens 7th Virginia Franchise

With a slim job market in summer of 1989, Brian Scudamore, an 18 year-old college student at The University of British Columbia, was sitting at a McDonald’s drive-thru waiting for his order.  In front of him, a truck full of junk appeared.  Immediately, Brian had a vision creating his own summer job.  He spent $700 on an old pick-up truck and began “The Rubbish Boys”, a junk removal service with the slogan “We’ll Stash Your Trash in a Flash!”  Brian dropped out of college to run the growing business and after three years of success, decided to take the business one step further.   His goal was to make the company, along with its phone number a household name.  Today, the Vancouver, Canada-based company,  1-800-GOT-JUNK, is the largest junk removal service in North America and has 300 locations in four countries.

Jeff Sharpe, a Martinsville-native and graduate of Radford University, learned of the company and in October 2007 purchased the Roanoke franchise, the seventh and final Virginia franchise for the company.  Located at 102 Boulevard in the southwest quadrant of the City of Roanoke , 1-800-GOT-JUNK prides itself on a professional, quick and easy way for customers to rid their households of clutter without a dumpster rental.  From old furniture, computers, appliances, electronics and construction debris…the staff takes care of all the loading, clean-up, hauling and disposal of goods for one price.  They promise not to leave without giving your home or office a final sweeping! Ourcompany1

For more information or to schedule your junk removal, either contact 1-800-GOT-JUNK or book your junk pickup today at https://request.1800gotjunk.com/webclient/forms/wfbook10.aspx.
