I just picked up the Winter 2008 schedule of classes for the Studio School located at 505A South Jefferson Street.  What a great gift idea for friends or family with an interest in art...ages 5 and up!  Winter classes begin the first week in January and range from painting basics to sketching to portrait & figure painting. 

For those that have a full-time work schedule, The Studio School does have a Monday evening class from 6 - 8:30 pm beginning Jan. 7 for 8 weeks.  Sketchbooks & Individual Projects offers individuals the opportunity to develop sketching and drawing skills, turning each into a customized project.  The instructor is for this class is Mark Shepheard.

Additionally, Vera M. Dickerson offers Experimental Watermedia on Tuesday evenings from 6 - 8:30 pm beginning January 8.

The fee for both 8-week classes is $140.

These evening classes offer convenience especially for downtown workers or for individuals living downtown.

Art Lovers - Don't Miss Open House at Betty Branch Sculpture Studio & Gallery

Those appreciating the amazing art offered in the Roanoke Valley will want to make the Betty Branch Sculpture Studio & Gallery a must when looking for the finest in holiday gifts.  In addition to Betty's work, you'll also find exhibitions by four of her seven children...Patrick Branch, Sally Grace Branch, Polly Randel Branch and Bonny Branch.

The holiday season at the gallery & studio kicks off with a reception on Friday, December 7 from 6 - 10 pm, followed by Open House scheduled December 8 - 19 from 2 - 6 pm.  Additionally, there will be a special showing for children on December 15 from 1 - 2 pm.
